SYMPTOMS AND CAUSES OF FIBROID UTERUS - PCOD

SYMPTOMS OF FIBROID UTERUS:

Many women never even know they have uterine fibroids. If symptoms do exist, they may include:

1. Painful periods
2. Prolonged and heavy menstrual bleeding (which may lead to iron deficiency or anaemia)
3. More frequent or uncomfortable urination caused by pressure on the bladder
4. Feeling of fullness or pressure in the lower abdomen
5. Pelvic pain
6. Backache
7. Constipation
8. Infertility
9. Miscarriage.

Menstrual discharge – Menorrhagia most common symptom, during of bleeding is prolonged and discharge is heavy. The menorrhagia is due to increased uterine surface, endometrial hyperplasia, and increase uterine vascularity. Polymenorrhoe – the menstrual cycle being reduced and the duration of the hemorrhage increased. Mertrorrhagia – women over the age 40 years with uterine tumor complains or irregular or continuous bleeding.

MENSTRUAL DISCHARGE

Pain - Spasmodic dysmenorrhoea, may be sever and acute pain.

Pressure symptoms – The pressure symptoms are mainly seen with large tumor situated in certain position.

Discharge  -  Myometous polyp may cause blood strain discharge in to the vagina, if it gets infected and its surface gets ulcerated blood strain offensive veginal discharge is noted.

Infertility – Due to several factors – P.I.D corneal fibroid casing blockage of fallopian tubes.

Pregnancy -  Complicated by the presence of tumor

Abdominal Lump – Painless abdominal swelling

Abortions – may lead to abortion
Urge for urination or acute retention of urine cervical tumor will press upon the bladder and rectum casing difficulty in micturition and constipation; urinary symptoms are usually most served. Although broad ligament tumor may cause uretic obstruction. Hydrouter disappears, after permanent hydronephrosis and irreparable renal damage have already occurred.

CAUSES OF FIBROID UTERUS:

Exact reason is not there for  why women develop these tumors.

• Genetic abnormalities, 
• Alterations in growth factor (proteins formed in the body that direct the rate and extent of cell proliferation) expression, 
• Abnormalities in the vascular (blood vessel) system, 
• Tissue response to injury.

SYMPTOMS OF PCOD  :

 Changes in the menstrual cycle:

• Absent periods, usually with a history of having one or more normal menstrual periods during puberty
• Irregular menstrual periods, which may be more or less frequent, and may range from very light to very heavy

IRREGULAR MENSES

Development of male sex characteristics (virilization):

• Decreased breast size
• Deepening of the voice
• Enlargement of the clitoris
• Increased body hair on the chest, abdomen, and face, as well as around the nipples (called hirsutism)
• Thinning of the hair on the head, called male-pattern baldness

Other skin changes:

• Acne that gets worse
• Dark or thick skin markings and creases around the armpits, groin, neck, and breasts due to insulin sensitivity

Other General Changes :

Weight Gain or Inability to Lose Weight
Insulin resistance and possibly diabetes
High blood pressure
Polycystic ovaries that is 2-5 times larger than healthy ovaries.
Impaired lung function
Mood disorders, including anxiety and depression  

CAUSES OF PCOD :

• Genetic predisposition.
• Insulin resistance or hyperinsulinism (high blood levels of insulin).
• Obesity.
• Hyperandrogenism (excessive production of male hormones).
• Abnormality of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis (organ/hormonal disorder).
• Environmental chemical pollution (hormonal disrupters)
• Food adulteration (excitatory amino acids, for example)
• Chronic inflammation
